North West Fire Control has agreed on a contract with emergency services communications company Frequentis for the provision of a new mobilising system.
The contract award notice states the deal is worth £11.7 million over its initial eight-year term, with the potential for an extra £3.5 million spend on operational services for three optional one-year extensions.
North West Fire Control is a public sector company set up four fire services in the North West – Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Cheshire – to handle their 999 emergency calls and mobilise responses.
The new system will involve computer aided dispatch working in conjunction with the integrated communication control system and its associated services, and take in data from all the fire authority and other relevant sources.
Frequentis was recently named as one of the partners in a major contract between the Home Office and IBM for the design and system integration of the Emergency Services Network.
