North Lanarkshire Council has appointed Agilisys as its partner in developing new technology solutions.

They have signed a two-deal with the option to extend for a further six months, with a maximum value of £12 million. It will involve the delivery of a number of new digital solutions in line with the council’s Digital North Lanarkshire (DigitalNL) and We ASPIRE initiatives to build digital capabilities in the local community.

The council is aiming to change its technology after identifying that its existing arrangements are struggling to respond to the changing needs of its staff and public.

Three streams

The deal will involve Agilisys migrating North Lanarkshire’s legacy systems to the cloud, deploying collaborative workforce productivity tools, and implementing a Microsoft Dynamics platform. The company said that once delivered, the new technology will support community groups, third sector organisations and businesses in their engagement with the council.

There will also be direct engagement with local schools and colleges and support for apprenticeships.

Katrina Hassell, head of business solutions at North Lanarkshire Council, said: “Our ambition is to make North Lanarkshire a place for inclusive growth and prosperity for all through digitising council services for our citizens and workforce.

“We are excited to kick off the delivery of transformational technology that will underpin our We ASPIRE and DigitalNL initiatives, and to embark on our partnership with Agilisys."

North Lanarkshire has published a Digital Vision paper that includes reducing personal contact in favour of digitised channels, an increased use of robotics process automation and data analytics and involves the council sharing networks with other organisations.

Other elements include standardising on a single case management system, developing ‘single sources of truth’ on residents and staff, and consolidating on a single business intelligence platform.
