Health and Social Care Northern Ireland (HSCNI) has awarded CliniSys a nine-year deal to provide an integrated laboratory information management system (Lims) across the region.
The procurement, run by the Business Services Organisation on behalf of HSCNI, aimed to find a supplier of “a significantly modernised, improved and rationalised Lims implemented as a single fully integrated solution across HSCNI” as well as associated services. The deal is worth an estimated £21 million to £43.9 million in a contract, which can be extended for two further five-year periods, that covers Northern Ireland’s five health and social care trusts as well as NI Blood Transfusion Service.
UK based CliniSys claims it has a 57% market share of the NHS Lims market, processing around 400 million tests annually in areas including blood, microbiology, tissue typing and screening of new-born babies.
