NHSX has set up a web platform aimed at supporting digital innovation in the healthcare sector.

Named Innovation Collaboratives – Digital Health workspace it has been placed on the NHS Futures platform for access by NHS and social care staff who have an account.

Anyone entering to join will be prompted to provide a brief explanation of why they are doing so.

Breid O’Brien, acting deputy director of digital health at NHSX, related the move to the surge in digital initiatives in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

“I believe Covid-19 has changed the world of health and social care technology forever,” she said. “There seems to be a change in mindset where people are open to approaching things differently. We’ve seen teams achieving amazing things through collaboration and rapidly adopting practices from elsewhere.”

Vibrant space

She added that NHSX want the new platform “to become a vibrant space where people question and support each other and learn together” and “we can share our learning very quickly through the workspace”.

O’Brien indicated that NHSX will provide tools for digital implementation and improvement science through the platform, along with case studies, webinars and podcasts.

The organisation, which is responsible for digital policy in the English NHS, is also planning to run a series of online workshops, the first on setting up a Covid-19 digital home monitoring service.
