NHS Wales has upgraded the Welsh Hospital Pharmacy Stock Management System.
Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) said the upgrade took place in September and is the first significant change since the launch of the system in 2019.
The system, which automates and streamlines various tasks related to managing pharmacy stocks, is estimated to support the dispensing of four million items this year.
Sam Lloyd, DHCW executive director of operations said: “This is a fantastic achievement. With such an important system that’s in use at 75 locations across Wales, the stakes were high. Our teams worked excellently in collaboration with Health Boards and the supplier, and it’s a credit to everyone involved that it went as cleanly and crisply as it did.”
Mike Jenkins, DHCW hospital pharmacy application manager, added: “This is a real success story, and an excellent example of DHCW working together with our stakeholders to deliver results.”
