NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership is looking to make an e-learning platform available throughout the country’s health service.
It has taken the first step in approaching the market for support in developing a system to improve the understanding of value based healthcare – which aims to increase the value derived form the resources available for a population – while supporting the tracking and analysis of how people and groups are learning.
It said the system would work across the seven university health boards and four health bodies in Wales, and would have to be fully integrated into NHS Wales’ academic and clinical systems.
The market notice says that NHS Wales Informatics Service plans to set up a website specialising in value based healthcare through which the e-learning platform will be accessed, with content supplied by a national team.
The Shared Services Partnership has identified three levels of content access: for all users; for NHS Wales users and students from Welsh universities, focused on educational material; and from value based healthcare teams and selected stakeholders, who will also have access to implementation specific material to support local initiatives and the sharing of good practice.
The notice says the platform should have content for each group or user, guiding them through the learning, and the capacity to support analytics on how it is being used and trends over time.
NHS Wales already has the Learning@Wales national e-learning platform, which provides a range of modules for health service staff.
