Selected pages from beta version of NHS.UK to be made available for feedback on NHS Choices
Developers at the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) are planning to bring the public into the development process for the forthcoming interactive NHS.UK service, linking prototypes to the corresponding pages on the existing NHS Choices website.
They are taking the step as part of the iterative development process for the new service, which is currently in its beta phase.
An NHS.UK blogpost on the move says the intention is to get a stronger understanding of user needs then use it in building the prototypes, which can be iterated and tested repeatedly to develop a version to meet the demands.
Earlier this year Deborah El-Sayed, director of digital and multi-channel development at NHS England, said the new service will be released in small chunks over a period of months. It is aimed at providing patients with better information and access to services in order to reduce the pressure on the NHS.
It will focus on providing more interactions than NHS Choices, which is largely a source of information, with online tools such as a function to book a GP appointment and a diabetes planner that relates test results to advice on what to do next.
