NHS Supply Chain has appointed Deloitte to provide a digital commerce platform for the health service in England.

The procurement and logistics organisation has agreed with the consultancy on a £9.3 million contract that comes into operation this week and is due to run until July 2028.

The platform will provide a single order and order management system and portal for peronalised content delivery across web and mobile channels, while supporting integration with NHS Supply Chains’ electronic data interchange and third party platforms.

It will provide routes to procurement from around 1,100 suppliers, supported by a services based architecture, business rules engine, product data management and taxonomy.

According to the contract award notice the new platform will replace a range of existing solutions, some of which are over 30 years-old and considered unstable and not sufficiently flexible to support the organisation’s strategy.
