NHS Scotland has launched a digital service to support its Covid-19 vaccination programme.
It has developed the system on Now Platform from digital workflow company ServiceNow, launching it nationwide on 20 January.
According to ServiceNow the service was created in six weeks and used to schedule 220,00 appointments in the first 12 hours of use.
It enables people to book their own appointments through a citizen portal and is expected support the scheduling and recording of vaccinations for 5.5 million citizens.
Seismic shift
Deryck Mitchelson, director of digital and chief information security officer at NHS Scotland, said: “Developed in partnership with ServiceNow, NHS Scotland’s vaccine management system represents a seismic shift in our response to Covid-19 as it assists with allowing the entire vulnerable population of Scotland to be protected quickly and efficiently – leading to an anticipated easing of lockdown.
“The vaccine management tools provided by ServiceNow have been vital to expediting Scotland’s vaccine efforts as we enter what we hope will be the final stages of the fight against Covid-19.”
NHS Scotland has also used the company’s suite of apps in managing its inventory of personal protective equipment, the national contact tracing system and to keep track of testing data.
