NHS Digital has signed a deal with Mastek for IT services in support of the NHS Pathways triage system.
It has agreed on a four-year contract worth £11 million with the digital solutions company to cover line development and DevOps delivery of NHS Pathways products, along with replatforming.
The suite of around 20 products is used for clinical decision support over the telephone by NHS England non-clinical call handlers to direct callers to the most appropriate source of care at the time. Its content also powers NHS 111 Online.
It operates by excluding conditions based on a set of triage questions developed by senior clinicians at NHS Digital, and is used by most ambulance trusts in England to direct patients to care rather than despatch a vehicle.
