NHS Digital is working on a data strategy for its Data Security Centre (DSC) as a step towards better managing its data supply chain and assets.
The national ICT partner to health and social care services is currently in the discovery phase of the project and looking for a partner to design and deliver the strategy.
It said the DSC, which provides services to help health and care organisations manage cyber risk, wants to build a cyber business intelligence and risk capability for the NHS, which should provide a mechanism to identify risks.
It has identified the need to include a data operating model and now wants to understand the most appropriate way to structure this and manage its data supply chain and data assets. This should ensure that data will be sustainably consumed and used within the DSC.
The organisation’s heads of innovation and delivery and business intelligence are to play significant roles in the project.
Late last year NHS Digital announced plans to pump £20 million into cyber security operations, partly for the DSC to run a new Security Operations Centre. The money will also beef up operations currently run by the DSC that include a monitoring service and ongoing monitoring of NHS Digital national systems.
