NHS Digital has announced the appointment of Pete Rose as new chief information security officer for the health and care system and its new deputy chief executive officer.
It said he will be responsible for running all of NHS Digital’s live services, solutions assurance and internal cyber security in addition to supporting organisations across health and care to bolster their own information security.
Rose is currently director of enterprise services and deputy chief digital, data and technology officer at the Home Office. His previous career included roles in the Cabinet Office and the RAF, along with stints in the private sector with HP and EDS.
This has often included a focus on technology operations, resilience, cyber security and complex infrastructure programmes.
He will begin the new role on 4 May, until when interim arrangements are in place with existing staff.
Sarah Wilkinson, chief executive at NHS Digital said: “Pete’s background in the management of complex national systems, and in particular his extensive experience of managing cyber security and resilience planning, and major incident management, will enable him to bring deep expertise and strong strategic vision to this challenging and wide ranging role.”
