Inverclyde Council releases service app
Inverclyde Council has made a mobile app available through Google Play and Apple’s App Store to enable residents to report any issues around its services.
Named Inverclyde Online, it includes a GPS function to identify a location and allows residents to take and send images to support a request. These are then automatically classified and sent to the appropriate service team.
Council leader Stephen McCabe said: “This new app allows us to target resources where and when they are needed and gives people the opportunity to pass detailed information on to the service directly, whether it be to deal with a pothole or a broken street light or to report graffiti or dog fouling.”
Surrey Uni to lead cyber safety study
The University of Surrey is to lead a £1.1 million study, involving a number of government agencies, into how people’s behaviour can lead to cyber security risks.
It will work with a team of 12 experts on a framework to analyse the behaviours of a range of stakeholders, including criminals, victims, people who operate cyber security systems, and business and government organisations.
The project has received 80% of its funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and is scheduled to run for two years from April.
North Cumbria NHS gets new patient admin system
North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust has gone live with a new patient administration system (PAS) provided by Silverlink in partnership with Stalis.
The deployment involved migrating data from a system more than 20 years old, and in which referral to treatment and 18-week pathways did not exist, to a new database. Stalis extracted, cleaned and migrated the data using its CareXML solution, with no system downtime.
60,000 forward appointments in 680 clinics were transferred across to the new PAS, and the project was supported by proactive staff development programme which saw 1,600 online tutorials and 600 face-to-face training sessions delivered.
Carewatch chooses Advanced for managed services
Home care services provider Carewatch has signed a £5 million, five-year deal with Advanced as a strategic IT managed services provider.
The deal involves the delivery of the Staffplan home care rostering solutions and the transition of a number of systems to a single connected infrastructure in the cloud.
The two companies have worked together since 2011. Carewatch now has 650 IT users among 4,500 employees, and is already using the OpenPeople payroll management system.
