Cabinet Office tenders for NFI renewal

The Cabinet Office has begun the new procurement for the delivery of the National Fraud Initiative, the data matching programme aimed at reducing financial fraud and error among public authorities.

The department has submitted a prior information notice with a projected value of £4 million. It says the partner will be expected to develop new techniques and overcome data related problems.

Incumbent supplier Synectics Solutions has developed tools under the programme including AppCheck to enable organisations to run their own checks on potential fraud.

 

Lewisham Homes completes IT upgrade

Lewisham Homes, the arm’s length management organisation for the London borough’s social housing, has completed an enterprise IT upgrade for its head office that included the installation of UD3 terminals and UDC software.

It has also adopted VMware for server virtualisation, Citrix’s XenApp for VDI, created a private cloud solution for application and data storage, and linked everything together through a secure MPLS network. The organisation is using voice over IP for telephony and installed a SIP server to run Skype for Business. Other applications include Microsoft Office and SharePoint, and a social housing management system from Capita.

CloudDNA acted as the IT partner for the programme.

 

Socitm applauds awards winners

Public sector IT association Socitm has announced the winners of its annual awards, going to organisations and individuals.

Two prizes were given for innovative collaboration: the unitary authority award went to the Northern Ireland Civil Service’s Digital Transformation Service for its Digital Transactional Toolkit, while the county council award when to Orbis, a partnership between Surrey, East Sussex and Brighton and Hove for integrated business services. Thurrock Council picked up the citizen engagement aware for its Citizen My Account online scheme.

The individuals’ awards went to Graham Jordan, partnership analyst at the North Eastern ICT Partnership as member of the year, and Alex Gee, a senior service desk analyst at Swindon Borough Council.
