Worcester takes up Pentana Performance
Worcester City Council is adopting Ideagen’s Pentana Performance software for operational monitoring and reporting. It will monitor departmental and service related performance, actions, risks and feedback, and play a role in the council’s internal transformation project.
David Sutton, deputy director commissioning and transformation at the council, said: “The software will integrate risks and performance, ensuring that they are being managed and monitored in one system rather than three or four.”
TellMeScotland unveils new website
Scotland’s national public information portal, TellMeScotland, has been relaunched with a new look and improved functionality.
The Improvement Service, which operates the portal, said it now allows for responsive use on mobile devices and has a more flexible search function, as well as a refreshed appearance. It will continue to offer text/email notifications and map based display of notices.
It has been running for 10 years and is used by 31 Scottish councils and 22 other public authorities. In 2016 it published 22,000 notices.
NHS Digital takes DevOps award
NHS Digital’s replacement of the Secondary Uses Service (SUS) with SUS+ has won the prize for Best Overall DevOps Project – Public Sector in the DevOps Industry Awards. The system processes information about care in NHS hospitals and is used to determine payments.
The old outsourced system was difficult to change and expensive to run, prompting the NHS Digital team to work with small scale suppliers to develop the new system and migrate 10 years of data. SUS+ now prices £30 billion of hospital activity per year, holding 1.5Pb of data.
Andrew Meyer, director of the Digital Delivery Centre at NHS Digital, said SUS+ costs 80% less to run than its predecessor.
DVSA develops MOT reminder service
The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has launched a test version of a text message and email service to remind vehicle owners when their MOT is due. It runs on GOV.UK and provides reminders four and two weeks before the due dates – and when an MOT has expired.
The service is currently in its beta stage, and uses the GOV.UK Notify platform for updates.
