200 plus services on Government as a Platform
More than 200 services are now using Government as a Platform (GaaP) products, according to a blogpost this week from the Government Digital Service (GDS).
In three years since the Government announced that GaaP would be part of the next phase of digital transformation, there has been significant growth in its usage: 19 services are hosted on GOV.UK Platform as a Service; over 35 million messages have been sent using GOV.UK Notify; more than 900,000 payments worth more than £40 million have been made with GOV.UK Pay; and 34 data registers are in use.
The blog says there have also been increases in functionality and a scaling up of operational support.
National Records of Scotland makes census plans
National Records of Scotland has appointed information solutions company CACI to develop a data collection operational management system and integration services for the next national census, which is due to take place 2021 and will be conducted primarily online.
The company won the deal, believed to be valued close to £5 million, to provide a system sitting in a secure hosted environment and to have components in place in time for a test next year.
Among the functions specified in the procurement notice are the development of an enumeration address register, processing operational information, an integration capability for data from multiple sources, and the creation of data interfaces between the system and other sources. The system also has to track census returns and provide predefined and ad hoc summary reports.
Virgin Media to support Scottish Courts
The Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service has signed Virgin Media Business to provide unified communications, software, licensing, equipment and associated services to support its operations. The contract will run for three years with options to extend for another two, and has been valued at £717,000.
