Norwich signs Advanced for transformation
Norwich City Council has signed a five-year deal with Advanced for the digital transformation of its financial and HR operations. It will implement an on-premise solution to automate and integrate its core digital processes.
The HR modules will go live for 650 employees later this year. The financial management modules are due to go live in 2019 and will initially be used by 25 key finance users, 50 self-service budget holders and up to 200 self-service purchasing users, and will annually process over 30,000 digital finance documents.
Invotra updates intranet for East Herts Council
East Herts Council has updated its intranet under a two-year contract with platform developer Invotra.
It is now being used by employees across four sites, giving them access to features including a message wall to encourage collaboration, a groups function and a new content management system. The software-as-a-service platfrom will also give East Herts access at no extra cost to features developed for central government.
The council will also be involved in the GOV.invotra project, in which the company’s clients come together to share best practice and collaborate with each other.
Newcastle plans for system to support people at home
Newcastle City Council is in the early stages of setting up a web based system to help people in need find support for living at home.
It has asked for feedback from IT suppliers on a system that would provide in finding support for tasks such as cleaning, dressing, feeling safe at home and getting around outside. It would also provide the council with data on people around Newcastle who access the system and on the information they look for, so it can help to assess their needs.
Dundee looks for public Wi-Fi provider
Dundee City Council is making plans for a public Wi-Fi network around the city centre and waterfront area, with the aim of having it in operation by the end of August.
It has begun to look for a supplier to install and support a fibre/duct network infrastructure with open access. The procurement document says it also has plans for a consortium to bid for 5G testbeds and trials.
