Local Land Charges Register goes live
HM Land Registry’s new digital Local Land Charges Register has gone live this week, with Warwick District Council being the first authority to make its data available through the platform. Anyone requiring local land charge searches in the area can now get them through the register rather than going to the council.
Graham Farrant (pictured), chief executive and chief land registrar, said: “By centralising and digitising the local land charges information of local authorities in England we are helping to improve conveyancing. Search results from the new register will be instantly available in a standard, easy-to-read format.”
Land Registry said it is now working with 26 councils in England to migrate their data to the register in a phased approach.
Lancashire trust signs Civica
Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust has agreed on a five-year contract with Civica to implement its Cito electronic document and clinical information management system. The company said it will support the trust’s effort to become paperless at the point of care by 2020.
The trust has been using Civica’s WinDIP EDM system since 2007 for the digitisation of its paper records. Among the capabilities of the new system are real time, single view clinical access to patient information.
UK 35th in broadband speeds ranking
New analysis of over 163 million broadband speed tests worldwide has revealed that the UK sits in 35th place with an average speed of 18.57Mbps.
The data was collected for the second year in a row across the 12 months up to 29 May this year by M-Lab, a partnership between New America's Open Technology Institute, Google Open Source Research, Princeton University's PlanetLab and other supporting partners, and compiled by broadband comparison company Cable.
The UK has performed better than 165 other countries, yet fallen behind 34 others, coming in behind 25 European countries, 20 of which are in the EU. This puts it in the bottom third of EU member states when it comes to average broadband speed.
Singapore tops the table at 60.39Mbps, compared to Yemen, which is more than 195 times slower at just 0.31Mbps.
Brits more trusting than French on healthcare data sharing
People in the UK are far more trusting of healthcare providers sharing their data than in France, according to a survey commissioned by the Open Data Institute. It found that 64% of UK inhabitants were positive on the issue, compared with only 35% of those in France.
Medical research charities scored much lower in both countries, at 24% in the UK and 15% in France.
The country with the highest trust in healthcare providers was the Netherlands with 71% positive.
