Camden confirms ICT hosting for Haringey and Islington
The London Borough of Camden is to take on full hosting of a shared ICT service for neighbouring boroughs Islington and Haringey. The cabinets of all three councils have confirmed their support for the move, reported in early January.
The transfer is scheduled for early April and follows an agreement by the three councils that the existing shared operation is not sustainable in the long term. Staff will be transferred to Camden, which will take the operational decisions under the governance of a joint committee.
NHS SBS seeks network for Lancashire STP
NHS Shared Business Service has begun a procurement for a wide area network (WAN) for the Lancashire and South Cumbria Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STP). It marks a significant step in supporting the plan for the integration of health and social care in the region.
The procurement notice indicates a requirement for a software defined WAN solution, which would make it possible to tailor the bandwidth to individual connections depending on the usage types. The value of the deal has been estimated at £10 million.
Manchester Police look to cloud data storage
The Greater Manchester Combined Authority has put out market feelers to replace Manchester Police Service’s data centre with a cloud solution. It has said it is looking for a single supplier to provide a managed service that would take on all the transitions and design and support the relevant infrastructure.
The contract would run for five years with options to run for a further two and has an estimated value of £12-£17 million.
MK Hospital upgrades CCube EDMS solution
Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is upgrading to the latest version of its electronic document management software (EDMS). It plans to use a completely redesigned version of CCube Solutions’ software, introducing support for mobile devices, with optical character recognition and integration with the trust’s Cerner Millenium electronic patient record system. The trust has been using an earlier version for seven years.
It also plans to migrate from a part virtual, part physical estate to a fully virtualised environment located at two data centres on its campus. This will involve using Microsoft HyperV, on which the CCube EDMS will run.
