Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) has developed a national dashboard to identify trends in colorectal cancer in the country.

It uses data from several sources, including the National Bowel Cancer Audit, to enable clinicians in Welsh health boards to identify areas that require changes to reduce waiting times or relieve bottlenecks in the service.

It has been developed by Welsh Value in Health Centre information specialists in DHCW, the NHS Wales Collaborative and clinicians from the Bowel Cancer Initiative.

DHCW said clinicians are now using the dashboard to provide early feedback on its capability and inform further development.

The next phase, to be completed later this year, will be to add surgical and oncological quality metrics and survival data.

Live data on single cancer pathway performance is planned for a future release.
