NHS Digital has published an interactive dashboard on the spread of Covid-19 in council and regional authority areas.
It contains numbers on cases identified through Pillar 1 and 2 testing and NHS Pathways triages through calls to 111 and 999, along with online assessments on 111 Online which received a final disposition.
Named the Progression Dashboard, it can be used to show trends for each upper tier local authority and regional authorities in England.
NHS Digital said the data is available from 18 March 2020 to three days before the current data.
The move has come amid complaints in local government that data on the spread of Covid-19 has not been shared with councils, which have been responsible for coordinating some of the response and will have to manage any local lockdowns.
Vital data
Jem Rashbass, executive director of master registries and data at NHS Digital, said: “We are working hard with our partners across the health and care sector to provide rapid access to vital data which could aid the pandemic response.
“The reason the progression dashboard is important is because it shows two measures that are associated with changing levels of coronavirus infection – people who have possible symptoms and then the results of the number of tests for the virus. By tracking the two over time at local level we can monitor whether there are possible new hotspots of infection.”
