Air traffic control services provider NATS has selected IT services company CGI as partner for the modernisation of its digital infrastructure.

They have agreed on a seven-year contract, after a year of working together, for the delivery of a data centre and hosting services.

Plans include moving NATS’ digital infrastructure to a cloud model and using an agile delivery approach. CGI will also provide the organisation with consulting services, frameworks and practices for transforming and managing its complex IT portfolio.

Keeping skies safe

NATS’ supply chain and facilities management director, Tim Bullock, commented: “NATS is currently implementing a transformational technology programme to deliver the next generation solutions that will continue to keep the skies safe into the future and support our customers worldwide and we will be relying on CGI’s expertise and proven capability to build and support the digital infrastructure.

“CGI will be joining an ecosystem of partners and I look forward to many years of collaborative success.”

NATS is a public-private partnership of which the UK Government holds 49% and a golden share to outvote others for specified purposes. It provides air traffic services at 14 UK airports and manages all the country’s airspace from two air traffic control centres located at Swanwick in Hampshire, and Prestwick in Ayrshire.
