The National Crime Agency (NCA) is looking to increase the scale of its National Data Exploitation Capability (NDEC) in the effort to reduce serious and organised crime.
It has begun to look for a delivery partner to work with it on one of its key projects, aimed at reducing the time it takes to take in, process and exploit data.
The programme is supported by an £8 million award from the Police Transformation Fund, and is intended to deliver industrial scale analytics and a suite of products and services that will be available to a range of law enforcement agencies and their partners.
The procurement notice says the NCA needs support to develop the capability more quickly and at greater scale, with the partner to provide delivery teams to build the various tools and services.
These will cover data exploitation, tools development, data acquisition and management, and support and maintenance.
At the time of the funding award, Steve Rodhouse, director general (operations) at the NCA, said: “To fully protect the public, the NCA must stay ahead of the criminals, develop our existing skills and share information and expertise in a way that delivers the biggest impact.
“Tackling the breadth of serious and organised crime requires a whole system response, collaborating with partners across law enforcement, government bodies, the public, private and third sectors in the UK and internationally.”
