New system on national public services portal takes questions from business owners about Brexit
Scotland’s MyGov team has launched a new information service for businesses on the portal for the country’s public services.
The move has followed discussions with the Federation for Small Businesses, and has taken in contributions from a working group of other organisations including Scottish Enterprise and the Scottish Local Authorities Economic Development Group.
The service, which was launched in mid August, consists of an information page to be regularly updated, and an online form for business owners to ask questions about Brexit that are not answered on the page.
When completed, it is sent to Scottish Enterprise – the country’s main economic development agency – via Amazon’s Simple Email Service. The aim is for answers to be provided within three days when possible, along with a decision in some cases to offer the business owner additional support from one of the partner organisations.
The MyGov team said that in future there will be an option for submissions to be stored on its database, and that users who complete the form are asked to check a consent statement before submission.
Usability testing has begun, which may lead to changes to improve the service. Also, the performance of the information page and form will be monitored, and there is an on-page option for anonymous feedback.
As part of the development, the team is urging Scottish businesses to send in questions about the implications of the EU referendum result.
