The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed Cegedim Healthcare Solutions (CHS) to deliver a Primary Medical Care (PMC) Information Service as part of its Programme Cortisone.
In a two-year deal with options for two one-year extensions, the company will configure its Vision clinical solution to meet the needs of Defence Medical Services in managing occupationally focused primary healthcare.
The project will involve the integration of a number of functions into the PMC Information Service, including the ability to record consultations, create prescriptions and manage medications, order tests, including laboratory and radiology, and create referrals.
The system will also include Outcomes Manager templates, forms and workflows to support efficient record keeping, and Pharmacy Manager for dispensing medicines.
Steve Bradley, UK CHS group managing director, said: “CHS is the UK’s only approved clinical system supplier across all four UK nations and possesses expertise contributing to creation of a single PMC Information Service solution integrated with the national services in all four countries. Cortisone is a unique, innovative programme and the CHS team is extremely proud and excited to be part of it.”
The MoD has recently published a market notice for delivery support in Programme Cortisone, emphasising the aim of creating an ecosystem for user-centric healthcare information services. It wants to develop an interconnected network of products and services based on common standards, to meet the needs of different types of users, rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach.
