The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is planning a programme to develop new information infrastructure services for the Army.
Named the Information Activities Programme, it is aimed at increasing the Army’s contribution to the Integrated Operating Concept, which emphasises the importance of dealing with threats when not at war and integration of the effort with those of allies.
MoD has put out an indication to the IT industry that it will be looking for a systems integrator to support the programme, saying it will need to provide a DevSecOps team to develop and maintain bespoke applications and integrate them with commercial off-the-shelf and existing MoD software.
The systems integrator will also provide the service wrap to support the capability.
While the MoD is still working on approval of the business case, it anticipates that the contract will run for five years with an estimated value of around £50 million.
The ministry expects to publish an invitation to tender in June and award the contract around March of next year.
