Contract with Scisys provides for four year support of compliance with import-export regulations
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed up with IT services company Scisys for the delivery of software and services to support its defence supply chain operations and movements.
Under a four year, £4 million contract, the company will develop a new Customs Compliance Management Information System (CCMIS) application and provide hosting and support services.
This is aimed at enabling the MoD to comply with complex EU and HM Revenue & Customs regulations on the movement of its equipment and supplies. These are classified as exports when moving outwards across EU border and imports when returned.
CCMIS should also support compliance with international defence trade agreements, such as the US International Traffic in Arms Regulations and the Defence Trade Cooperation Treaty. It is also expected to support the MoD’s efforts to be tax-efficient.
Andy Whitehead, divisional director of enterprise solutions and defence for Scisys, said: "We are delighted to add this highly significant project to our defence portfolio, which helps underpin our growth plans within this most important sector."
