The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has given CGI a three-year deal to help move the health and dental records of UK military personnel to a new set of systems as part of its Programme Cortisone.
The £38.9 million contract was awarded on 23 March and started on 1 April, running until the end of March 2023, but has only just been announced by CGI. The US-based supplier, which has worked for the MoD for more than 40 years, will support existing patient record systems while supporting the move to new ones, including off-the-shelf software provided through cloud services.
CGI recently established a facility for the MoD to send text messages to all the patients it serves to provide advice on Covid-19, as well as statistical reports on the impact of the pandemic.
The Ministry of Justice recently awarded CGI a deal worth up to £90 million for it to maintain around 50 ‘heritage applications’ mostly used by HM Courts and Tribunal Service for 21 months. It did so without running a competition, saying that no other supplier was able to offer the support required.
