Mid and East Antrim Borough Council is planning to replace a number of legacy IT systems with TechnologyOne’s OneCouncil software-as-a-service (SaaS).
It is part of the effort to rationalise a collection of IT systems left over from the creation of the council by a merger of Ballymena, Larne and Carrickfergus in 2015.
The council intends to use the solution to pull together finance, HR, payroll and procurement systems into a single enterprise system. Technology One said this will simplify how the 800 staff access the functions, and that they will be able to do so using any device from any location.
The implementation is scheduled to take place next year.
“The linking of HR, payroll and finance systems in one place will be a huge benefit to us,” said Mid and East Antrim’s interim head of finance Kieran Carville.
“By digitising and automating workflow process we will bring new efficiencies and savings for the council. It’s a massive leap forward from where we currently are.
“All our admin will be automated giving us much more time to focus on more useful work and continuing to deliver improvements for our citizens.”
He added: “We wanted to move away from server based systems and Covid-19 has really emphasised the importance of this. Our employees are having to work from home and are currently needing to use VPNs to connect, so TechnologyOne’s SaaS systems will be hugely beneficial going forward.”
