London’s Metropolitan Police Service has outlined plans for an applications service as part of its Pegasus Programme to reduce its IT procurement from six ‘towers’ to two.
It has published a contract notice for applications services with a value of up to £350 million, covering an initial period of five years with the option of a two one-year extensions.
Mandatory elements include application management services, security and management of the tower. Optional aspects include hosting services for applications, end user services and the introduction of agile application development methodologies.
“The Pegasus Programme will deliver a service model that reflects the future needs of the MPS,” the notice says. “It will enable agility and flexibility in our services, an improved user experience and greater value for money.” Potential suppliers have until 30 November to apply, with the service planning to issue invitations to tender by the end of January 2021.
The service published details of the programme’s IT infrastructure tower, worth up to £600 million over seven years and combining five of the previous six towers, in November 2019. It indicated that it wanted different suppliers for the two new towers.
