The London Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime has chosen Capgemini as its strategic IT infrastructure services provider for the Metropolitan Police Service.

They have signed a five-year contract under which the company will support the service in developing its new services.

The company said it will provide the Met Police with a “a flexible and agile service” that includes improving its digital interaction with citizens.

Capgemini indicated it will utilise its automation delivery centre and hybrid cloud services under the contract. It declined to provide any further details of the plans or the value of the deal, but according to a report in TechMarketView it is part of the Met’s Pegasus programme, will involve the replacement of its multi-provider Towers Model for infrastructure provision and is worth up to £600 million.

Angus McCallum, chief digital and technology officer for the Met Police, said: “Capgemini will help us continue to develop the next stage in our journey towards Met’s digital policing vision.

“Capgemini was chosen as our infrastructure partner based on the strong capabilities demonstrated throughout the bid process. We look forward to working closely with Capgemini in the delivery of critical infrastructure services over the coming years.”
