The Met Office has signed up 32 companies to a procurement framework for delivery partnerships.

It said it will apply to tactical and strategic initiatives as part of its long term transformation and has estimated the business could be worth up to £30 million over the next four years.

The Met Office says in the contract notice that the move reflects its need for a “significant step change in technology systems, resources and ways of working”, and that it plans a number of programmes in which technology will be central. This requires partners who can bring skills and knowledge to fill gaps in its capability.

“By extending our capacity and capability, we can move faster and focus on the areas we add real value to by leveraging the expertise of partners,” it says.

Among the purposes outlined in the notice are to support the Met Office in developing a common data platform, exploiting data science and taking a common approach to customer data services.

The companies on the framework are Actica Consulting, Andigital, BAE Systems Applied Intelligence, BJSS, CACI, Computacenter (UK), Credera, Deloitte, Envitia, Ernst & Young, Foundry4 Consulting, Frazer-Nash Consultancy, Kainos Software, Kin and Cart Create Europe, KPMG, Landmark Information Group, Made Tech, Mercator IT Solutions, PA Consulting, QA, Rainmaker Solutions, Red Oak Consulting, Rowe IT, RPX Digital, Shout Digital, Somo Custom, Spyrosoft, Valtech, Wavestone Consulting, Zaizi and Zensar Technologies.
