Greater Manchester Police has awarded two companies with places on a national procurement framework for insider threat monitoring and audit software (ITMAS).
The move is aimed at reducing the misuse of police data and systems by providing a means deter any corrupt activity.
The framework involves contracts with Vigilant Applications, a provider of user behaviour management solutions, and audit and protective monitoring supplier Corporate IT Systems. It is set to be in place for three years with two options for one-year extensions, and has been valued at £8 million.
According to the award notice: “Greater Manchester Police, in common with all police forces, faces a threat from internal corruption.
“The risk of misuse of police systems and data is a serious matter which requires deterrent, monitoring and the ability to produce evidence to support prosecution in the event of abuse.
“With forces now utilising mobile devices it is a mandatory requirement that potential suppliers can offer a solution for mobile devices within their software solutions.”
