Magistrates’ court lists in England and Wales have been published online for the first time.
HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) has announced their availability through Courtserve, a brand name for Courtel Services, which provides listing services for the legal community.
New users will be required to register for the service, but for existing users the lists can be access immediately.
The published lists contain the same information as those currently displayed in court buildings, including the defendant’s full name, who brought the prosecution (such as the police), courtroom, time listed and case number.
HMCTS said that cases involving children will not be published due their sensitivity; and overnight custody cases are unable to be published as they are not know at the time of publishing.
