Low code platforms have proven to be one of the most important tools for the public sector in responding to the Covid-19 pandemic

Their capacity to produce increasingly sophisticated digital services through configuration, rather than requiring in-depth coding skills, has enabled organisations to quickly spin up and deploy services that have helped co-ordinate the Covid response, and provided lifelines for vulnerable people.

They have been used to develop services and get them up and running in days rather than months, demonstrating that there is a new way of doing things in the sector, and presenting an immense promise for a more agile approach that responds to social and organisational needs.

The latest UKA Live discussion, staged in partnership with NDL, will examine the advantage of low code platforms, outlining some of the achievements during the pandemic, looking at the factors in their use, and exploring the long term potential they offer to the public sector. They hold the promise to contribute to a ‘new normal’ in the development of digital services.

Participants will include:

  • Marc Hadwin, head of digital services, University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust;
  • Samantha Tilley, ICT service and digital programmes manager, Wigan Council;
  • Simon Parton, head of ICT systems and applications services, The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust;
  • Owen David, ICT programme delivery manager, Warwickshire County Council;
  • Charlotte Todd, business manager, NDL Software;
  • Helen Olsen Bedford, publisher, UKAuthority.

The discussion will be open to questions and comments from the audience as it takes place, giving you a change to bring your own contribution to the debate.

It takes place online on Friday 6 November 11.00-12.00, providing a great opportunity to gain a stronger understanding of an important trend in the public sector. Further details and registration information from below.
