LocalGovDigital plans first regional peer group meeting with Greater London Authority
The organisation behind the Local Government Digital Service Standard (LGDSS) is planning to subject it to an early test with its first regional peer group meeting in London.
LocalGovDigital has set up the event with the support of the Greater London Authority for next Thursday, 7 July, with the aim of attracting people who create and deliver digital services for councils. It wants feedback on how the standard can be used in designing services and how authorities can work together.
“Now that the LGDSS is in place, we’re looking to identify how we should implement a service standard in a local authority context to help provide a common approach to user-centred digital services,” it said.
“We’ve produced guidance for each point. Now we want to understand how to provide the best of our expertise across the sector to collaborate and support each other, including through regional peer groups.”
GDS support
LocalGovDigital received support from the Government Digital Service in drawing up the standard, which is based on the Digital by Default service standard for central government.
The final version was published in April following feedback from more than 60 councils on the draft. It includes recommendations on the use of agile methodologies, testing, open standards and when possible making source code and service data open and reusable.
