Lincolnshire County Council has chosen public services provider Serco as preferred bidder for a five-year, £17 million contract for digital and customer services support.
The company said the agreement is on course to come into force in April of next year and will include options for two two-year extensions.
This follows an arrangement that began in 2015 under which Serco has provided a range of services to Lincolnshire, including its customer service centre.
Under the new contract, it will be responsible for all aspects of the council’s customer services, including those in highways, education, transport, libraries, heritage, adult and children’s services and road safety.
It will also support the council in the development and delivery of new digital services to improve its customer services.
Improvements and savings
Lincolnshire’s assistant director commercial, Sophie Reeve, said: “During the procurement process, the council worked closely with Serco and the other finalist to find service improvements and cost savings.
“Both finalists submitted strong bids, but, in the end, Serco delivered the better deal. As a result, Serco will continue to deliver these services for the Council when their current contract comes to an end.”
The company’s managing director for customer professional, Mark Bennett, commented: “We look forward to making further improvements to services under the new contract and working with the council to develop new and exciting accessible digital services.”
