Libraries NI has awarded Fujitsu Services a seven-year contract valued at £27 million as strategic partner for its e3 project.
The libraries service for Northern Ireland set up the project to develop IT services for internal and public facing operations, replacing the current e2 contract.
According to the contract notice, there is a potential for up to three one-year extensions that could take the value towards £60 million.
The initial requirement is to manage the legacy services while planning then implementing new ones, with key objectives for the longer term being around public computer access, corporate desktop build, a library management system, a cash management system, self-service functions, a virtual library service, corporate services and business intelligence systems.
“Advances in technology continue to be a key factor in the drive to improve services, reduce costs and match levels of provision to the needs of customers,” the notice says.
“ICT is an essential and integral element of every aspect of the work of Libraries NI and is critical to ensuring that it can deliver its statutory duty ‘to provide a comprehensive and efficient public library service for persons living, working or studying in Northern Ireland.”
Fujitsu Services has an established role in supporting Libraries NI, having provided a managed ICT infrastructure since 2018 under a deal that was extended in 2020.
