The Local Government Association (LGA) has launched a Digitalisation Almanac for the sector to support councillors and officers in relevant initiatives.
It has been developed by consultancy Public on the outcomes identified in the digitalisation framework for local government that was published last year.
LGA said the goal of the Local Government Digitalisation Almanac is to make the topic more accessible and understandable to a wide range of users.
It contains a series of steps practical example for reaching the 12 goals outlined in the framework on connectivity, data, democracy and participation, economic productivity and growth, ethics and sustainability, inclusion, leadership, organisational capability, security and resilience, services, and value.
LGA said the new document is not intended as an instruction manual but a starting point for conversations and improvement efforts.
Cllr Neil Prior, deputy chair of the LGA’s Improvement and Innovation Board, said: “This is a resource that adds to our ability as a sector to share practice, communicate effectively and build partnerships.”
