The Local Government Association (LGA) has made a package of measures available to support councils in their transformation efforts.

It said the transformation programme is part of its sector support offer and includes a number of tools and resources, along with learning and development opportunities, to help local authorities shape and deliver their transformation priorities.

The programme incorporates three themes: peer support, with the LGA providing targeted capacity and guidance; learning and skills through masterclasses on best practice, workshops and panels; and tools and resources.

The latter involves the Transformation and Innovation Exchange and Transformation Capability Framework, through which the LGA will provide councils with resources to identify what works well in transformation activity. The association has also indicated that it will provide “data driven” tools to support efficiency and continuous improvement.

Change and improvement

Cllr Abi Brown, chair of its improvement and innovation board, said: “The transformation programme is a major new component of our newly launched sector support offer, which will further help councils to drive forward change and improvement, in delivering vital local services to their communities.

“Councils are already undertaking transformation to fundamentally change their systems, processes and skills to achieve measurable improvements in efficiency, effectiveness and resident satisfaction.

“Our new transformation offer will provide councils with the tools and resources to achieve their transformation goals.”
