Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service is planning to implement a new control room system supplied by Motorola Solutions.
It said the technology, including the company’s Control Room Solution, is scheduled to go live in the summer of 2024 and is expected to include the speed, effectiveness and resilience of its incident response.
Motorola Solutions will host the solution, which will enable the Leicestershire control room to build a picture of events from multiple data sources, including from devices in the field.
The package also includes VideoManager software for bulk data storage.
Callum Faint, chief fire and rescue officer for Leicestershire, said: “This investment in the latest mobilising system is a significant step forward in our commitment to create ‘safer people and safer places’.”
He added: “Our control room is integral to our emergency response capabilities; call handlers operate in fast moving and uncertain environments. They need to be able to gather vital information when a member of the public has made an emergency call and quickly relay the details to response teams, to help to ensure their safety as they work to protect the public.”
Motorola Solutions said the system also supports collaboration and mutual aid between fire services during spate conditions, where a large number of calls are received simultaneously across multiple locations.
