Application Enquiry service due to launch next week with aim of reducing delays
The Land Registry is replacing its Day List Enquiry service for business users with a new online channel named Application Enquiry.
Set to go live on Monday 14 March, it effectively upgrades the old service with a bunch of new functions and will be available from the left hand menu of the Land Registry portal.
A spokesperson said it amounted a beefing up of the older service and is aimed at reducing potential delays for the organisations using it.
New features include extra details about an application including its progress status, the full priority period for official searches on land titles, the ability to save details as a PDF and an upgraded search function. It will also provide the ability to discover whether any charges have been discharged within the previous 30 days.
Ease and speed
Graham Farrant, the chief land registrar, said: “The initial feedback from those who tested the service gives us confidence that Application Enquiry will make it much easier and quicker for customers to know what is happening with their application at any time they like.
“The new service was developed after customer research revealed that only 18% of customers were using the Day List Enquiry, and although many rated it highly, a small sampling exercise revealed that most went on to call Land Registry for more information about their application. The most popular reason was because clients or lenders wanted an update on progress or to find out whether one application may be holding up any subsequent applications.”
The Land Registry's transactional database holds details on more than 24 million land titles.
