HM Land Registry has said it is making improvements in its electronic Document Registration Service (eDRS).
It said it is aiming to provide more guidance on the application process and validate selected information as it is submitted.
The initial focus will be on a single title transaction, which will enable Land Registry to test the service and take in use feedback for further developments.
“Our aim is to reduce requisitions by developing services that help you to improve application quality and save time,” it said. “We are speeding up the application process by asking for information once, helping you to reduce duplication.”
The eDRS is used by the agency’s business e-services customers to submit applications to change the registry on land ownership electronically. The upgrade ties in with its open approach to data, under which it is aiming to make it easier for people to discover and use its information.
As part of the approach it is one of six geospatial organisations (known as the Geo6) involved in the Data Discoverability project, and in January published a list of all its datasets and associated metadata.
