HM Land Registry has said that six more local authorities have migrated data to its Local Land Charges (LLC) Register – the highest number in any month so far.
Redditch, Bromsgrove, Tameside, Newark and Sherwood, Hambleton and Blackburn with Darwen have all joined the register over October, bringing the total number of councils to 24.
It marks an increase in momentum for migrations to the LLC Register – which provides a centralised platform for searching for local land charges – with take-up of the service having been slow since its launch in 2018.
In May HM Treasury announced the creation of £26 million fund to encourage councils in England and Wales to transfer local land charges data.
Mark Kelso, local land charges programme director at HM Land Registry, said: “Migrating six local authorities in one month is a significant achievement and really shows how the LLC programme is gathering pace.
“These most recent migrations mean that people buying property in these areas will now have access to instant LLC search results. We are working hard with local authorities across England and Wales to ensure property buyers can obtain the information they need quickly, making the conveyancing process simpler for everyone.”
