Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care and Partnership Trust (KMPT) has signed a five-year deal with Civica for the use of its Civica Prescribing software for medicines administration and prescribing.
The mental health trust plans to implement the software as part of its integrated health and social care strategy.
Karen Bartlett, advanced clinical pharmacist and prescribing lead at the trust, said it will provide an intuitive and easy-to-use platform that can be tailored to its needs, and that it has the integration capabilities to support the trust’s long term development plan.
Civica said the software will facilitate the sharing of medication history with GPs through electronic discharge notifications and with other healthcare providers through the Kent and Medway Care Record.
It also claimed the system will improve patient safety, increase integrated workflow and support more efficient spending on drugs.
KMPT provides secondary mental health services on behalf of eight local clinical commissioning groups, Kent County Council and NHS Specialist Commissioning over 33 sites.
