Jisc has received certification as an assured service provider of cyber security services from the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).

The organisation – the membership body for technology services in the tertiary education and research sector – said it now has Cyber Incident Response (CIR) Level 2 status, approved by the NCSC and CREST, which manages the certification scheme.

It said this will give organisations connected to the Janet Network and those calling on its cyber security response team with extra governmental assurance.

David Batho, director of security at Jisc, said: “CIR Level 2 is a significant milestone in our commitment to providing our members with nationally recognised cyber security services. It underlines Jisc’s capability to effectively manage cyber security incidents and demonstrates our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cyber security resilience and incident response for our customers.”
