Strengthening the foundations of digital public services
There has been a distinct shift over the past year in the factors that underpin digital public services. Most have retained their significance, but increasing attention has been paid to artificial intelligence. The emergence of generative AI on a large scale has fostered a perception that AI is now becoming a mature technology, has encouraged many to explore the possibilities, and forced them to consider the possible pitfalls.
This was a prominent issue in the presentations and debate at the UKAuthority Powering Digital Public Services conference in March 2024. There was a sense of rapid evolution in the foundations of digital services, and the need for robust but flexible, principles and standards to ensure both effectiveness and long term value.
More than 260 delegates took part in the two online event. Speakers from public service organisations and the tech industry shared experiences and perspectives and took part in lively discussions and Q&A sessions with delegate participation too.
