UKAuthority Inform and Sopra Steria's latest briefing note explores the benefits of ensuring that public sector data is structured and managed in a way to meet peoples’ needs rather than just those of the organisation.

The value of data is now widely understood, but many organisations are still working out how to make the best use of the information assets they hold. They can see the value in integrating data from different sources and sharing it effectively, but they are looking for a precision in their approach to ensure it is not only used for the public good and within legal frameworks, but also provides a solid foundation for the future and evolving artificial intelligence.

To put people at the heart of our data operations involves tackling a range of issues from data quality to legacy systems and integration. This briefing note summarises the views of public sector leaders participating in editorial round tables and a UKA Live discussion exploring why, and how, the health and public sector should take a human-centred approach to data.

It was written and researched by Helen Olsen Bedford and Mark Say from UKAuthority in partnership with Sopra Steria.
