Barnsley launches eBay store
Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council has begun to sell unwanted equipment through an eBay store as a fund raiser.
The environment and transport department has set up the online shop on the popular auction site as a pilot. If it is successful, the scheme will be extended to other departments.
Items for sale include old and surplus stock such as protective clothing, highways materials and plant equipment.
Conwy, Manchester and North Somerset are among the councils that have already used the eBay.
Agency adds challenges to satellite data competition
The UK Space Agency has added three environmental challenges to its Space for Smarter Government Programme.
The programme involves a competition for the allocation of £700,000 of support in its first phase. The new challenge areas are:
- addressing the limitations of satellite imagery techniques currently used by the Environment Agency during flooding
- responding to climate change and waste issues
- improving the management of natural risks such as coastal erosion.
All competition entries must have an identified public sector end user who is engaged and would be willing to work on the project towards an operational service and a clear business case with a realistic route to market.
Government simplifies G-Cloud 7
The Government Digital Service has streamlined the supplier processes on the G-Cloud 7 framework in an effort to make the processes simpler.
Describing the changes in a Digital Marketplace blogpost, it points to a single system application in which suppliers can apply and submit their services through one system. Previously there were separate systems for each process.
It has also provided a one-click process for registering an interest in becoming a supplier, and introduced a feature to allow suppliers to make a copy of an existing G7 service. This will be for the same lot as the service from which it was copied.
In addition, the supplier dashboard will show when services are ready for submission, and completed services will automatically be submitted for approval on the deadline day if the supplier has also made their declaration.
