Scotland's national public notice portal, tellmescotland, has been updated by the Improvement Service to incorporate new developments.
It is now supported by mygovscot myaccount, which streamlined has the process for the public and businesses to sign up for tellmescotland and access public information notices (PINs) in their local area.
The Improvement Service – the organisation that supports transformation in Scottish local government – said the new site has also improved the process of uploading PINs to the tellmescotland portal.
It said the updated portal makes PINs more accessible and easier to understand, allowing users to register for email and text alerts specific to notices within their area of choice or to browse the website and search for notices.
In addition, it should reduce the need for councils to spend on advertising and providing a platform for the public to easily access information on planning, roads and licensing in their local area.
There are two types of PINs published by local authorities: statutory notices to give notice of an intended action such as a road closure; and non-statutory notices to provide public information on council meetings.
